About the FDP:

This Faculty Development Programme aims at building leadership awareness among participants and to simultaneously emphasize on value-based teaching. The usage of the term preceptor highlights the significance attributed to the changing role of the teacher. Teaching can no longer be one with a ‘broad-brush’ approach. The role of the teacher has assumed even more import in the wake of the noticeable and recent shifts in pedagogy, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Knitting together the hitherto heritage-based learning process to the online learning mode so common today, the teacher always remains at the heart of the ‘Guru-Shishya’ relationship. Ethics and ethical norms are at the core of that relation, even as the Teacher is an integral catalyst of change.

Amidst the sweeping changes affecting the education sector, teaching continues to be established on foundations of ethics – whether it be in the teacher-student relationship, or in a teacher’s relationship with his / her work or with other stakeholders. A code of ethics has to evolve and this code must protect the education value system, the students, and all stakeholders.

Today’s world is dynamic, and intensely practice oriented. Preceptors must continuously support the learning process among students with their solid and value-based experience. Teachers must, simultaneously instil values into the minds of students transforming them from a student to being a responsible citizen. To be there a teacher rises to be a preceptor, bringing out the best in the student and inspiring the student to strive for greater heights of value-based achievements. This Programme helps draw attention to the deepening role of the teacher.
