A Management Development programme on “ Strategic General Management “ for the second batch of Senior Executives of Public sector organizations

Prof. A.M Salim, Emeritus Professor and Dr A.Viswanathan, Professor, TIM conducted training programme on Strategic General Management at Thiruvananthapuram from 6th to 8thth March , 2013, in association with the Centre for Management Development for the second batch of Senior Executives of Public sector organizations under the Government of Kerala. Managers from various companies belonging to diverse sectors such as manufacturing, financial services, construction, chemical, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, research & development and electronics participated. The objectives of the training programme were : • Exposure to the contemporary concepts, techniques and process of Strategic Management • Integrated perspective of organizations and aligning operational activities to strategy • To gain practical insights into the applications through case analysis • Imbibe the spirit of strategic thinking and evolve strategies for participants’ organizations The course modules included environmental analysis, review of mission & hierarchy of objectives , formulation of strategies, implementation of strategies evaluation & control. Strategic Audit frame work , Balance Score Card and the latest Blue Ocean strategy were also discussed. Analysis of cases and comprehensive discussions on strategic issues of the participants’ organizations, facilitated by these experienced Professors, enabled the participants to hone their strategic perspectives.
